Ok, I can't keep it to myself anymore! Here is my big project I have been working on. I am so so SO excited!!!! We are officially launching only on the 01st March, but I couldn't wait any longer to tell you.
_____________________________________________________________________________
We are delighted to announce the launch of South Africa’s premier Egg Donor Program
nurture Egg Donor
Program is a concept conceived by two people who are passionate about the world
of infertility and egg donation. Tertia Albertyn, well-known author, former
infertility patient and now mother of twins, and Melany Bartok, former egg
donor herself and the country’s leading Egg Donation Director are both elated
to be doing what they feel is their life’s calling!
At nurture, our focus
is on recruiting, selecting and supporting top quality donors who are committed
to the process of donating. Our objective is to provide complete
donor care – encompassing education, information and support throughout the
entire process, from application through to donation and beyond.
We look
forward to connecting with you and all the other people whose desire it is to give others a chance to realize their dreams.
With passion and vooma,
Tertia and Melany

It is still very early days. We might not have our website up yet or fancy stationery etc, but what we do have is lots and lots of passion and excitement; and 100% conviction that this is going to be absolutely wonderful, not only for us, but for everyone involved - the egg donors, the recipients and the clinics as well! We are totally into creating a situation where everyone benefits - a win-win situation for all.
I am not giving up my day job, I am going to be investor and adviser for now while Mel works full time for Nurture. Together, the two of us are going to set this space alight! It is so great to be involved in something so dear to my heart. YAY us!
PS: If you are a young, healthy
20-34 year old South African woman who would like to find out more about egg donation, please
send an email to info@nurture.co.za. If you are an old bat with tired,
overcooked (vrot) eggs like mine, but you know of young, healthy women who would like
to find out more about egg donation, tell them to give us a shout.
PPS: If you are a South African
blogger, please consider posting a note on your blog to spread the word about
Nurture Egg Donor Program.
PPPS: If you are a man, thanks but no thanks. We don’t need your sperm right now, but thanks for the kind offer!
PPPPS: Woooo hooooo!!!! Do you have any idea how excited I am about doing something that could potentially mean so much to so many people! Very, very excited indeed.

Have you considered having a sperm donor programme too? From my last appointment it was made obvious to me that there is a serious need for this in S.A as there are very few good donors at the moment.

Wow, Tertia... I'm FLOORED that you've jumped into such a huge and possibly life-changing endeavor. You've taken hold of the reigns and are making a difference where you thought one was needed. If there were more people like you who don't just sit around whining about what is needed and actually make a DIFFERENCE the world would be a better place.
Congrats and good luck to you and all of the potential recipients!
Posted by: Dani | 29 February 2008 at 08:12 PM
Tertia you never stop amazing me! Congratulations! This is awesome. I don't get to check in as often anymore (taking care of both my parents now, they are both ill so it's a full time job plus running the business) but I'm so glad I checked to see how you are today. WOW! You are going to help change so many women's lives and make their dreams come true, how rewarding and fulfilling is that. You should be so proud of yourself Tertia.

Very exciting indeed! Congratulations, and what a wonderful way to integrate your passion with your career. Smart girl.
So, DH and I have been considering doing a DE cycle in South Africa. Will watch your progress very closely. Maybe we could be one of your first customers?
Posted by: kristylynne | 01 March 2008 at 06:13 PM
What a wonderful thing the two of you are doing!! It will no doubt make such a difference in so many lives. I couldn't be happier for you both, and for all those women who you will help. God bless you Tertia and Melany, and God bless the donors who give the ultimate gift.
Posted by: Kay | 02 March 2008 at 02:25 AM
I do think this is a simply lovely idea!
I am seriously interested in donating (remember we discussed it a little while back) but it looks as though South Africans aren't only excluded from donating blood over here in the UK but eggs as well ;-()
Would you consider me if I could time the actual harvesting for when I am over there? My GP would be happy to handle the build up.
Love
Amy

This is so great -- congratulations, Tertia!!! I am so excited for your new adventure and cannot wait to hear about the new families you will help build. As you know, my darlings were donor embryos, but the original couple used donor eggs. I thank this woman who donated her eggs every day of my life.
Way to follow your passion, girl.
