As I mentioned last week, this past weekend was my turn to host the dinner party.
Marko and I are not big entertainers, and combined with my serious lack of cooking abilities has meant that this dinner party was the first one we have ever hosted.
I wasn’t nervous because I had arranged the caterer and also because I was too busy worrying about Kate who was starting to get sick, but poor Marko was STRESSING about the night. He was worried the food would be crap, or not enough etc etc. He gets all worked up about things like that.
The caterer (I shouldn’t really call her that, she isn’t a caterer as such, but she makes food for other people, it is her own little business. I guess that is a caterer I suppose), anyway, she arrived at 5’ish with the trays of food. V nice. Beef stroganoff, roast veggies, lovely salad and delicious dessert thingy. Marko just about has a heart attack because it looked so little, but the size of the platters were deceptive.
I invited the NATR (neighbours from across the road) who hosted the first dinner party, the NFND (next door) and a new couple, the NUTR (up the road). I’d like to say more about them but I gave them my blog address and so will only say lovely things about them.
What a lovely couple. (No really, they are. New BFF)
Anyway, the dinner party was a big success. The food was really nice, the company was great. I think everyone had a good time and even better, everyone went home by 11 without too much hinting and yawning on my part.
Unfortunately Marko forbade me to suggest the pee’ing in the garden thing but Adam only woke up once and went back to sleep quite quickly. I put some music on in the background near their rooms, which seemed to help.
I am glad it was a success, but mostly I am glad I have had my turn, at least for a while. Next time we wont be as stressed, we can make it a lot less formal. Pizza anyone?
Tertia - If you HAD to cook, what would you have made?

Brava. I'm so glad it turned out great. What kind of wine did you have and talk to me about the desert thingie. :-)

If Tertia HAD to cook, she would have made Burnt Cupboard.
hee
Glad it all went so well, although I think it rather rude of your neighbours not to volunteer to pee in the garden.

Sounds like fun! Hopefully now that you have a successful one under your belt you won't be as nervous next time.
