You see what I mean!!! I leave you alone for a minute and you are at it again! Fighting among yourselves about politics, tsk
tsk. Would you like me to speak about
religion next??? Huh?? Actually, now
that I think about it, the religion thing came up a number of times in the
‘conversation’ about politics. Had no
idea religion / which church they belong to / what their preacher said was such
a big issue. I thought all the lordy
folk would just be happy that the prospective leaders were lordy at all, but
apparently you get lordy and then you get lordy.
Anyway, moving on.the world America. Me!!
You know how those meme things go around the blog
world, right? ‘10 things you didn’t know
about me’, Well, I could never complete
one of those things because there isn’t any thing you DON’T know about
me!!! You’ve seen my breasts, for
goodness sake! But then I thought there
is something you don’t know about me. Something so odd that I’ve been to embarrassed to tell you before. But it’s time. We need something drastic to distract you
from the woes of Mccain and Palin vs Obama and that other chap whose name is
hardly ever mentioned.
So here it is: I eat the same thing, every single day. The Same Meal, Every Single Day.
Every morning, I have low fat muesli with fat free
milk. Every day. For lunch, I have avo with sweet chilli sauce
on soya and linseed bread*, toasted. Every day. And for supper, I have
a salad with lettuce, roast veg, feta or gorgonzola cheese, smoked chicken,
peppadews, olives, corn etc. The
ingredients may vary a little, but I have a salad every single night for
supper. Except on Saturday nights, then
Marko and I have sushi for supper. But
otherwise it’s the salad. Every night.
I snack on all sorts of other shit during the day,
which is why I carry the extra roll around the middle despite the low fat muesli
and fat free milk etc. But the point is,
I eat the same thing at every meal.
Is that odd? It
is odd, isn’t it? I can’t help it! I don’t
want to eat anything else! Nothing else
tastes as nice as muesli, the avo-on-toast and the salad. If I don’t eat the salad, I get withdrawals.
So anyway, no point to this post, except for you to
feel better about yourself and your political woes, because no matter how bad
things might seem, there is always comfort in the fact that thank GOODNESS you
aren’t as odd as that Tertia woman!
Now excuse me while I go shop for some more salad
ingredients.
* There are times, if I am feeling in a particularly adventurous
mood, that I will swap the linseed bread for health bread.
PS if you are wondering whether this ‘same dish at
every meal’ extends to my sex life, the answer is a definite NO! But because my husband has forbidden me to
talk about our sex life on my blog, I’ll have to leave it there.

I think that is frigging FANTASTIC. It would make shopping so much easier. Same aisle, shelf etc. Every day the same. What do you do when avos are not in season???
I wish I could eat a little pill everyday so that I woule *never* have to cook / shop for a meal in my life. I am seriously grocery-shopping phobic. Not to mention trying to cook *healthy* food for my 3 little kids who take one look and say *yuck*.

I would love to be able to get away with that. Hubs is an adventurous eater so we eat out a lot. It drives him nuts that I stick to the same order every time we go to a restaurant. It consistant enough that the wait staff usually know my order before I can say it. I wonder where this urge to eat only certain foods comes from? I have been doing it for so long I can't remember.

Hey...if it works for you, that's great. I think I would go stark, raving mad if I ate the same thing all the time.

When I am at work, my meal routine varies very little. I try to eat healthy foods, so every (EVERY) morning for breakfast it's homemade oatmeal. Snack is a piece of fruit (usually a banana unless I'm feeling reckless and then it's an apple. shocking). Lunch is some form of a frozen diet meal.
Though, I do admit that dinners vary in our house. We'll cook a big meal on Sunday and eat the leftovers all week though. SO boring, but SO easy. ;)

I eat the same thing for breakfast and lunch every single day. Exactly the same, every day, for at least 6 years.
Dinner, I mix it up but I think that's largely because I haven't found the exact right thing yet. I always feel very good after breakfast and lunch, but not always after dinner. If I could find the RIGHT dinner, I bet that would be fixed.

Ok, that's weird.
I rotate through several breakfasts - Multi-Grain Cheerios with Banana and Milk (or without Banana), Granola bar and Yogurt, Pancakes (what can I say, the kids like them), Eggs and Toast, Waffles (kids), Omelets, Oatmeal... I honestly can't say I eat any one more than the others.
Lunch is leftovers, or soup, or a sandwich, or a salad, or pasta, or some combination of the above.
And I only repeat our very favorite menus, like pizza, twice a month. I try new recipes every week.
I can't imagine eating the same thing every day for every meal. That would feel like prison. Eek.

My husband eats the same thing for breakfast and lunch every day. I don't think I could do that. It's way too boring for me but I definitely think that if I could do it, it would make life so much easier.

I'm so jealous. I'm not even allowed to serve leftovers at my house. And yet, no one likes anything new. Weird, huh?

Wow, I thought I was the only person like this. Everyday for breakfast and lunch I eat the exact same thing. Every day. Breakfast is a banana, an applesauce and one of those yogurts that are supposed to be good for your pooper. Then for lunch I eat a hard boiled egg, a string cheese, a pickle and a frozen diet meal. Never changes.
Although right now I am pregnant and my normal food sometimes makes me want to barf. This is very disturbing because I would almost rather barf than vary my meals.

Hi Tertia.
I think I am exactly the opposite!! Not only I can't eat the same thing for two meals in a row, but I need to swap dinner menus from one week to the other, because get I bored cooking the same things one week from the other!! But I do love cooking, that's one thing I would spend a lot more time learning and doing if I had any time for myself

Hi Tertia,
I thought I was the only one! Yay for other oddies!
Back when I was single, young and thin enough to get away with it, I ate a pint of mint chip ice cream right out of the carton for dinner every night. Makes shopping soooo simple!

I don't think it's weird at all, I need strategy tips for getting away with this in my house. Do you make something else for the kids? Does Marko eat the salad too? Do Marko and the kids eat the same thing and does Rose do any of the cooking? I cannot stand grocery shopping or cooking. I like food when I don't have to make it - at a restaurant or someone else's house. But at my house, if I'm hungry, I would just as soon take a pill and be full and skip the whole drama and mess. It's a shame, because I prefer healthy food (actually crave more veggies than I eat) but the easy meals are not healthy.
So, I make some lazy ass meal for my hubby and me (3-4 ingredients recipes, heavily repeated. He works late and travels a lot so he doesn't seem to notice). The kid (3 1/2) eats chicken nuggets, PBJ , frozen pizza or similar. And when it's just me (no hubby) it's whatever i made for the kid.
Please share particulars! Would love that salad every night!! Where do the roast veggies come from?!

What's avo? Avocado?
Posted by: jill | 03 October 2008 at 02:15 AM
Me too...same thing every day: breakfast is a cinnamon raisin bagel; lunch is two boca burgers; snacks are grapes with yogurt; dinner is salad with chicken strips on top. My poor hubby is on his own as he can't handle my sameness. I vary it or change something about every six months. We do ocassionally go out and I have a change though if it is dinner I usually go for a salad.
I find the routine comforting...I haven't died yet, so I keep on...glad to know I a not alone.

Sounds so healthy. No wonder you maintain your weight so well.

OMG - THAT IS WEIRD! You definately must be an eat-to-live gal, rather than a live-to-eat gal!!
I live to eat - within my calorie limits though! And if the calories are eating into my alcohol calories, then I'm afraid its the food that has to go! Nothing interferes with my beer calories. Or beer money!

WOW! Me too! I have jungle oats for brekkie every morning with fat free milk. Avo on low GI bread for lunch with tomato. When avo is out of season I eat boiled agg on toast. Only my suppers vary because hubby wants variation and I'm sure as hell not doing two different meals for supper each night. Daniel generally lives on oat bran, scrambled eggs, bananas and apples.

I have two questions:
1. What happens when you travel?
2. Does this extend to the whole family or do you prepare seperate meals?
I think that if you are happy and healthy, you can eat whetever you like, even if it's the same thing every day. I will admit that the idea is strange to me because I love, love, LOVE trying new foods - and if you cauld see me, you could tell :-).

I'm also an opposite type: can't bear to eat the same thing 2 days in a row. Had a sandwich? Great - won't see another one for a month probably. Bit inconvenient really, especially for my husband, who basically has to eat all the leftovers cuz I can't deal with them. I had a roommate years ago who was just like you, though, including the salad for dinner - I thought she was batty. Of course, her entire daily routine was SO rigid you could literally - LITERALLY - set your watch by her. Hey, to each his own.

You crack me up! I think it makes sense to eat the same thing. You've said before you don't like to cook much and if you've found the foods you like, why change it. I usually eat the same thing at restaurants I've been to before. And I have been known to eat the same thing for breakfast and lunch for many days in a row. Only sometimes for dinner.
Posted by: Heather | 03 October 2008 at 09:30 PM
my husband has the same sandwich for work every day. that would drive me NUTS. i do have the same breakfast (two slices of toast plus marmalade), but all else is a free for all. we get an organic veggie box once a week that is great value, and we never know what will be in it (apart from being in season and local). it varies what would turn out to be a monotonous diet into something challenging.
i like your salad plan. not cooking dinner would be my no.1 aim in life ;)

Just a quick question, does Marko share the salad for dinner every night diet? Gotta say, I'm in the 'you are very weird' camp on this issue.
Not only do you east asald for dinner, you eat it every night. Also, this may be a slight insight into why you have some trouble getting Adam and Kate to try new foods?
