While we were at the pediatrician*, the lovely Dave from Storm was
waiting outside my house (they even deliver to your FRONT DOOR!) with my prize
for winning the 2007 South African Weblog of the year; the very sexy, very
delicious Apple MacBook Pro.
OMG!
Better than Prozac, headier than a glass of chilled Chardonnay. Sweeter than a seeing your ex-boyfriend looking like shit.
I am SO excited. What a lucky fish I am. Now I just have to pry Marko’s sticky paws off the machine long enough to get a look in myself.
Thanks to Storm and thanks to the rest of the team (headed by Jon from
Cherryflava) for organizing the competition, for sponsoring this cool prize and
for having the foresight and good taste to pick G&D me as the Winna Wena!
This bit from Storm:
The 2007 SA Blog
Awards has moved from an enthusiasts-only event where the only reward is kudos
from other bloggers to a hotly contested competition – and for the first time
the winner of “Best Overall Blog” will walk off with a highly desirable prize,
a Mac Book Pro worth over R17 000 sponsored by Storm Telecom.
“Storm Telecom
decided to put up a really decent first prize to help turn the SA Blog Awards
into a competition that bloggers would definitely want to win. Blogging is
pretty new in South Africa – it’s an adventure
for bloggers and an adventure
for us. As an ISP we’re interested in the development of online communities and
the technologies that bring people together. We sponsored the award to
stimulate the professionalism and quality of blogging in SA where bloggers put
effort and value into what they do,” said David Gale, New Business Development
Director at Storm Telecom.
“There’s an awful
lot of rubbish published as blogs, which is the nature of user-generated
content, but the good stuff does bubble to the top,” comments Gale. “Blogs
anywhere in the world don’t usually last more than a few months, and many just
limp along for years, but some have become major media with millions of page
impressions a month. Storm put up a great first prize in the “Best Overall”
category to reward bloggers that have created something really special.”
Thanks Storm, your support is most appreciated. By the whole family!
*I am going to the Paed for the THIRD time this week. Was there on Sunday for an after hours

Congratulations! (I'm writing this on a MacBook Pro and all I can say is you won't get your hands on a better machine of any kind!)

I know it was intended as a silly pose, but the picture where you're snuggling the mac is a great shot. You look even more g&d than usual.

I got a macbook last September and it's still the best thing I ever bought. I love it. I think I'm IN LOVE with it. And it's already been like 8 months. It's so convenient, and never crashes, and isn't buggy, and it's so tiny and cute and portable. I just love it!

You lucky bint! A MAcBookPro. I'd give one of wisdom teeth for one of those. I'll just have to made do with Mildred MacApple, Pro-less. She's lovely and she she works just as well, I'm sure, despite her white plasticky exterior.
