Monday Update
A great scan!
Gestation: 31w3d.
Babies: Both babies measuring spot on, in fact above average (genius children). Adam is now a tiny bit bigger than Kate. Enough fluid, good Doppler flows, good looking children. The BEST news is that are both now 2 kg’s!! That’s 4.4 pounds to you ‘behind the times non-metric’ types. Kate is 1,963 kg’s (4.327 lb) and Adam is 2,080 kg’s (4.585 lb). The abdomens and femurs measure the same but Adam’s head is slightly bigger which accounts for the tiny weight difference (big headed, like his father) No wonder my cervix is taking strain with that big head pressing on it constantly. I got their report card with me. Adam is on the 86th percentile and Kate 74th percentile.
Cervix: Unfortunately shorter, now at 2cm. But Dr says it is to be expected. It is still closed which is good news. She said is unlikely I will go to term, but with good growth babies I am doing well. I am less worried about the cervix now. I am doing what I can, all I can do is hope it stays closed for a few more weeks.
Obviously I would like to go as far as I can (HBIJ!!) but it is a huge sense of relief to have made it to the 2kg mark. Marko has said that after Friday (when I will be 32 weeks) he is no longer going to stress out about the babies. I still want to get to January.
I am one happy camper today!!
As a treat my babies will dine on lemon meringue pie this evening.

Your children are obviously bloody brilliant! And fat! And I laugh at the idea of Marko no longer stressing about the babies--tell him good luck. I'm sure it'll last until the first of them staggers across the living room, directly into the sharp corner of the coffee table. At which point he'll buy one of those kid-leashes.

I have been reading your blog from down-under (Western Australia) for a while now and I just wanted to say how excited I am getting for you, as well as that I keep everything crossed for you & look forward to your updates. Keep on taking care of yourself and your precious babies. x

This is why I love mondays! :) I love hearing all is well with Kate and Adam.
Only 4 more days til the magical 32 week mark. HBIJ!

TWO KILOS!!! Bloody fabulous news, my foul-mouthed Dahling! I was a preemie myself at 7,5 months and 2,100 kg, didn't even need the incubator because I screamed my head off and was generally lively and entertaining (whaaat? You're surprised?). Your kids are EXACTLY like you, SHOW-OFFS, the pair of them. But. Are they reading YET? Oooh, so sorry... I'm sure they'll be alright though... Eventually...
PS - How MANY times need I tell you, it's assholette!

Hurrah! Glad things are looking so good. When the magic day arrives, I promise I will send congratulations on the proper schedule!

Here's a bit of trivia for you: the plural of "femur" is "femora". Go figure.
Posted by: Princess K | 06 December 2004 at 03:58 PM
That's because of Latin, Princ. K, femur but femoral artery, thorax but thoracic and a few such others. [Are you listening to this, children? You never know when it'll be helpful. In fact, surprise Mummy and have your 1st words be Fungus AND Fungi, respectively, go on.]

As a prehistoric American, I THANK you for converting your metrics into measurements I understand. I'm so cave-ish, I don't even know the conversion! 4.4 pounds...WHAHOOOO!!!
Is it wierd that come Sunday night, I can't wait to log on to my computer Monday morning so I can check your update?? First thing I do at work every Monday. I'm so productive!!!

Such great news! I check on you often and each monday when you have great news it buts a huge smile on my face. Your babies sound amazing. Over four pounds (and thanks for the conversion as I had no clue) is great!

Like Cory, my first task at work on Monday mornings is to
1. Check Tertia's update - big smile
2. Get cup of Coffee
3. Yawn
4. Answer damn phone
Bravo! Brava!! Well done little ones! Well Done SuperMum!
I feel quite sure Adam and Kate will come out with the innate ability to type, so They are Charlie can post up updates when their mums are too busy.

Tertia,
So happy for you. I am also starting to get sad for us. Pretty soon we will start to get excuses, "couldn't blog for a week because Kate was teething, Adam just had his shots, like my babies more than you, blah, blah, blah"
Lucky babies.

Ooh, good update! Are you feeling as cow-ish as I imagine, seeing as how you've got two in there, each the size of my one?
I'm so excited by your progress! HBIJ!

Good Monday to us all! What great weights - those babies are indeed smart! I was 4lbs 10 oz (sorry, you'll have to convert that) and I turned out OK - or at least I think I'm OK!

Hooray!! This is the perfect way to start the week. Three cheers for little Adam and Kate. They know how to make their momma proud!

Hooray! I just knew it'd be another fantastic update, Tertia. Pleasantly surprised to hear that the doc didn't mention hospitalizing you! Only a few days until 32 weeks... after that, all icing on the cake!
You are doing fabulous, my friend. Enjoy that pie, and have some extra for me! ;-)
Love,
Jennifer
