A few pics
First the bellyshot, you asked for it, you got it.
And yes, once again I am in my underpants, but as I am sure you
will agree, I lost my modesty here long ago. No use in pretending any more. The old T shirt and underpants look is pretty much standard uniform for me. Gone are the days where I got dressed up for the photos. Hey, at least I made sure the underpants had no holes in them and that I pulled them up from their half-mast position.
I wasn’t too sure about posting the pics cos I look rather elephant like (how FAT are my thighs!!). But it’s not about me I suppose, it’s about the belly. Mere incubator and all that.
I closed the door for the lighting and of course the cat pretended like I had locked him in jail and was throwing himself around trying to get out. Asshole.
Then, my nursery furniture arrived on Friday and we have set it all up. Do you know how strange that feels, to stand in a room in my house that is a nursery, a real live nursery? After almost five years?? I keep going into the room and just staring at the stuff. It feels surreal.
Some might find it plain, but Marko and I are plain people, we don’t go for frilly stuff so the room suits us perfectly. And no bedding yet, I am not buying duvets or cot bumpers in the beginning because of the possible link to SIDS. Just plain cotton sheets and swaddling blankets.
And then a pic of the cupboards in the room, filled to the brim with stuff. I
need to wash it all, sterilize stuff and pack it away. But at least I have stuff, lots of stuff.
I am glad every thing is organized now. Ready, steady, go. Just add 2x babies.
Does it feel real yet? No. Do I believe I will bring home two babies? Not yet. There is still a big part of me that is holding back. Protecting myself, just in case.
And yet….. A nursery. Me. It feels so strange. But v v nice.

Your belly is too cute :) And the nursery, oh, it's darling. Lekker in fact. *Sniff*. 2cm is fine - you are doing so well (apart from making the cat mad).

Everything looks and sounds beautiful.

The belly is gorgeous, and so is the nursery. Fat thighs??? You must be kidding.
I remember when I was pregnant with my son. I would go into his nursery in the middle of the night, and just stare and stare, with this crazy feeling of excitement. We had a couch in there, and I often slept in there, with all the lights on, so that when I had to get up to pee a hundred times, the first thing I saw was this NURSERY. For my BABY.
I'm so happy for you. How many times can I say that? Never too many, I suppose.

Um,yeah, your thighs are huge! Believe if you must but you'll be the only one! I'm so glad that the babies are doing great! The nursery is perfect.

Explain to me exactly how fat your thighs are? They're NOT! I'd kill for legs like yours. I'm all of 5'2" and I have short little stumpy legs!
You look BEAUTIFUL!
And so does the nursey. And soon you will add 2 babies. I'm so very happy for you.
Is the cat feeling better now it's been released from prison?

I'm in the nursery-weirdness boat right along side you. Very odd, very surreal... but nice.
And, can I say that your belly looks great! I expected it to be more, um, monstrous (but in a good way) by now! :)
Posted by: Julia | 07 December 2004 at 06:08 AM
Yes, your thighs are fat. Gargantuan (sp??). In an alternate universe, maybe!!!! But I've got to day that even in my regular old universe, where things have "normal" proportions, that's one big belly, lady! Lots of BIG babies in there!
Love the nursery!

What a blindingly gorgeous thing that belly is, really! Too bad abt the leg elephantiasis, how excruciatingly disfiguring and heartbreaking to see, yes... So happy your nursery is up and ready, even happier that there's no frilly stuff - I'd have to smack you really hard to make you regain your senses. But it'd hurt me more than you, BELIEVE ME. Dahling.

You look fabulous- although your stomach did more to keep my 13 year old on the straight and narrow than any planned parenthood class could. However, I really don't think you are all that big for having twins. I know I was bigger than that.
Your nursery is lovely. Can't wait to see babies in there.

You're TINY except for those two babies in your belly. And the nursery looks so great, I wish I were your baby!

Very sweet! And, no stretch marks (at least not on the photographed side) on that gorgeously rotund belly! Wowsers. I bet it does seem hard to believe, but it's only a matter of a few short weeks until we get to avidly read about your L & D, and see pics of your gorgeous babes!

I have to agree with the otheres - I see no fat thighs! Just a great big belly filled with happy little ones. You know, it's not that much bigger than my belly was with my one daughter - ugh. I gained almost 50 pounds with just one kid. But enough about me - I've been reading your archives and crying at my desk at work as I read your story. Congrats on making it this far and doing so well and sending lots of good happy thoughts for continued health for you and the babies until they are ready to see their beautiful new room.

O.k., your belly looks SO DAMN GOOD!! Ohhh, many pangs of very good jealousy here. And excuse me, if you say one more time that you have big legs, I am going to have to come over there and hurt you. B/c if yours are big, then I am a FAT COW. You're growing two, count 'em, TWO babies and I can promise you that you are waaaay more thin than most women I know, especially me.
Anyhow, I am just so unbelievably happy, thrilled and excited for you, Tertia. First the wonderful news from your Monday Update, and now beautiful pics of your belly and your lovely, lovely nursery. (Btw, Aidan's nursery was also yellow, and I found it to be the most calming, peaceful room in the whole house.)
I don't know if this helps or not, but when I read how much Kate and Adam weigh now, I thought about the fact that they are mere OUNCES smaller than Aidan was at birth. And he came home with me from the hospital. I know your situation is different than mine was, but I am just so darn hopeful for you that I don't know what to do with myself!
O.k., Aidan is roaring like a lion in bed next to me, so I think I'll take that as a cue that the room isn't dark and quiet enough and sign off for now. I'm thinking of you all day long, and praying for you and the babies. Many blessings on you, my friend ...

I've got the goosebumps here, looking at these pictures, and just one day after the gorgeous growth scan. Babies. Two. Pretty exciting.
Before Meg was born, I was known to take pictures of her laundry hanging on the line. It was just so CUTE!
Thanks for sharing your surreality (including those incredibly thin thighs).

If you weren't such a kick ass woman, I could seriously hate you for looking so gorgeous while preggo with twins.
Your nursery is perfect.

Wow, I definitely need to take a course in SA English. Apparently where you are, the literal translation of "fat thighs" means "perfectly shaped upper portions of wonderfully long toned legs." And here I thought I could get by just remembering the meaning of "naff" and the insertion of all those superflous "u's". :) I love the nursery, it's so beautiful! Congrats on everything!

Dude, I'd kill for legs like yours!
The nursery is so elegant.

The nursery is just lovely. I'm due in 3 weeks, and our nursery is also quite plain, due to the fact that we are in an apartment in Tokyo and can't go overboard with the decorating. That suits me just fine...the focal points of your nursery will be your two beautiful children. No accessorizing necessary! (P.S. I think it looks so cute that you've got two of everything--I can imagine it's quite an expensive look, too! :-) )

I love the nursery. Quite cozy.
One question--what the heck are the drawer pulls on the diaper table?! In that shot they look like tiny alien heads or skulls, perhaps.

Beautiful!
So happy about the scan.
32 is just around the corner, then there is 34 and then you are home free. YEAH!
Thinking of you and the babies,
Laura

Ach, you don't know fat thighs, woman!
Must say seeing pics of your nursery and everything else is v v nice for all of us, too.
So happy for you Tertia!

You have not SEEN fat thighs. I suspect that, babies excepted, your entire BODY is the size of one of my legs. Grrrr. Nursery lovely, I think the drawer pulls are wabbits? Thinking of you and A and K (and M of course).

Hi Tertia
Because of you I just could not sleep all night!!! (Also, my son kept me awake a little). But in my head a voice kept repeating "2kg's wow!!!!" I am sooo chuffed for you.
Love the belly shot, and the nursery is great.
Just a tip. I also did not want to use blankets, so I went to Baby and Company and bought sleeping bags. They are really great. At the moment you also get the thinner ones for summer. You just put them on, and there is no chance for them to pull anything over their heads. Tim has been sleeping in this since he was born. They come in 3 different sizes, S,M,L, and they cost R69.
We will probably be in CT on April. Would love to see you and the babies!
Best regards
Heike (Tanjas friend in Tanzania)

Everything is beyond beautiful.

De-lurking here to say how happy I am for you. You look so wonderful, and happy. I'm not pregnant, 10 years younger than you, and I'd KILL for those legs. The nursey looks so beautiful and ready.
Those babies are HUGE right now. I'll be sending my lurking good energy to you in any event though.
